One more Congo fever surfaces in Quetta

QUETTA: 18,SEPTEMBER,2019: A 15-year-old girl Khajura Bibi, resident of Loralai, was brought to Fatima Jinnah General and Chest Hospital Quetta commonly referred to as Congo fever, on Tuesday.
According to hospital sources, Khajura Bibi’s blood samples were sent to laboratory for tests and found positive for the disease.
The patient is in stable condition, sources added.
It is to be noted that, this year, at least 52 patients were brought to various hospitals of Quetta on suspicion of Congo fever out of which 24 were found positive while six of them died due the deadly disease.
Congo fever is a tick-borne viral disease which is mainly transferred to humans from pets.
The symptoms of the viral disease may include fever, muscle pains, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding into the skin.
Complications may also include liver failure. (04)
