Over 60 educational institutes, several hotels sealed in capital over violation of covid SOPs

ISLAMABAD: 24, JANUARY, 2022: As many as 62 educational institutes and 15 hotels in federal capital have been sealed over violations of coronavirus related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
As coronavirus cases in the country continue to increase owing to omicron variant, authorities have launched crackdown against violators of SOPs set by the government.
During the crackdown multiple hotels were sealed and several people were arrested over violations.
It is to be noted that, coronavirus infections tally in the country has surged 1,374,800 on Monday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 7,195 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 12.53 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 526,899 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 464,431, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 185,340, in Balochistan 33,941 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 118,292, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,497 while 35,400 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,105 deaths so far, after eight deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,108 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,741 in Sindh, 5,975 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 976 deaths and AJK recorded 751 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,590,353, corona tests and 57,401 in last 24 hours and 1,269,078 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 474,829 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 432,063 in Punjab, 175,765 in KP, 33,941 in Balochistan, 108,884 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,251 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,993 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,113 patients are in critical condition.
