KARACHI: 13, NOVEMBER, 2021: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is all set to hold protest rally against growing inflation and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Karachi today (Saturday).
According to sources, the workers will carry out demonstration at Regal Saddar under the leadership of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief and PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Leaders from PML-N and other political parties will also participate in the protest rally.
On November 6, the PDM, a multi-party opposition alliance has planned to hold protests across the country as well as a long march towards Islamabad against the rising inflation and PTI government's anti-people measures.
As per the statement issued by PML-N leader and the alliance's secretary general Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, after it was decided in a virtual meeting of the anti-govt movement that protest rallies would be held in all provincial capitals.
Former PM Khaqan Abbasi said "A protest will be held in Karachi on November 13, followed by one in Quetta on November 17 and in Peshawar on November 20." "The last rally would be taken out in Lahore, from where protesters would march towards the federal capital," he added.
"This movement will end only after sending [Prime Minister] Imran Khan packing," the statement reads. "This is a movement to rid [the country] of Imran Khan," it added.
A day earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman discussed anti-government strategy and current political situation. The situation caused by the growning inflation in the country came under discussion.
During the meeting with Mualana Fazl, the PPP chairman said "Parliament's joint session was postponed without taking anyone into confidence, adding that, the recent defeat of the government in Parliament is huge success of opposition.
Meanwhile, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that "the unity of opposition parties is need of the time." This government is fake and opposition is trying to destroy its evil plans, he added.
On Thursday, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman summoned the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting on November 15 (Monday).
According to sources, the PDM meeting will take place at 3:00pm during which a protest strategy against the growing inflation and issues of electronic vote machines (EVMs) and PDM's stance over awarding voting rights to overseas Pakistanis, NAB ordinance and other issues will be reviewed.
According to PDM spokesperson Maulana Hafiz Hamdullah, PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman, will chair the session on a video link from Islamabad.
Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Aftab Sherpao, Dr. Abdul Malik, Prof. Sajid Mir, Shah Awais Noorani will participate in the session via video link.
Leaders of all parties in the PDM will attend the meeting through video link, Hafiz Hamdullah. (04)
