ISLAMABAD: 03, AUGUST, 2021: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday has said no polio case has been reported across Pakistan in recent six months.
The premier presided over a virtual session on polio today. During the meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the next 12 months are very important as the government needs to take effective steps for the elimination of polio from the country.
He also directed to utilize all the resources to eradicate the disease during the session.
It is pertinent to mention here that, anti-polio drive started in 68 districts of the country from yesterday (Monday), to administer the vaccinate over 23.6 million children below the age of five.
According to National Emergency Operation Center for polio (EOCP), approximately 179,000 frontline health workers are taking part in the campaign.
The vaccination staff is ensuring strict compliance with the WHO-recommended Covid-19 prevention protocols during the campaign, it added.
In a statement, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr Faisal Sultan urged the parents to cooperate with the polio teams and ensure that their children are vaccinated against the crippling disease. (04)
