ISLAMABAD: 23, OCTOBER, 2021: Prime Minister Imran Khan will leave for Saudi Arabia on a three-day visit today (Saturday) to join the launching ceremony of the "Middle East Green Initiative Summit" in Riyadh.
According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan will depart for the kingdom along with a high-level delegation, including the foreign minister and other members of the federal cabinet.
The MGI Summit is being held at the initiative of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The event is the first of its kind in the Middle East. It may be recalled "Green Saudi Arabia" and "Green Middle East" initiatives.
The Crown Prince launched these two initiatives in the month of March this year, aiming to protect the nature and planet.
PM Imran Khan welcomed these initiatives and offered to share experiences and lessons from Pakistan's "Clean and Green Pakistan" and PM's "10 billion Tree Tsunami."
Sources further informed that, the premier will share his perspective on the challenges faced by the developing countries due to climate change at the MGI Summit.
He will also highlight Pakistan's experience of launching nature-based solutions to address the environmental challenges.
During his stay, the Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet the Saudi leadership. The two sides will exchange views on bilateral ties, with particular focus on advancing economic and trade relations, creating more opportunities for Pakistani workforce, and welfare of Pakistani Diaspora in the Kingdom.
Regional and international issues of mutual interest will also come under discussion.
As per sources, the PM will also attend the event on promotion of investment in Pakistan and interact with leading Saudi investors and businessmen and Pakistani community in the kingdom.
The PM's visit will carry forward the positive momentum of cooperation between the two countries. (04)
