LAHORE: 05, OCTOBER, 2021: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday has rejected Pandora Papers investigation cell constituted by the government.

The party's spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that "Pandora Papers cannot be investigated while Prime Minister Imran Khan is in office. The cell is not formed to catch corrupts rather it is a tactic to protect mafias and cabinet members who own offshore companies."

On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan set up three-member high level cell to investigate the Pakistani individuals named in the Pandora Papers.

In a tweet, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that the PM Imran has formed a high level cell under the Prime Minister's Inspection Commission will "question all individuals that are part of Pandora Leaks and facts will be placed before the nation".

On the other hand, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said that "the cell will determine whether public office holders had declared their foreign assets."

He added that "If not, a corruption case will be referred to the National Accountability Bureau. In case of money laundering, the case will go to the Federal Investigation Agency."

The minister further said that "for non-public office holders, a tax evasion case will be forwarded to the Federal Board of Revenue." (04)
