PSM sacked employees end sit-in after negotiations with govt, train service restored

KARACHI: 02, DECEMBER, 2020: Pakistan Steel Mills sacked workers ended their sit-in on Bin Qasim railway track on Tuesday night after successful negotiations with Sindh government after which train service from Karachi to other parts of the country was restored.
According to sources, Karachi Express departed from Bin Qasim after 15 hours dealy while Pakistan Express left Landhi Railway Station after a delay of 10 hours.
Rehman Baba Express and Shah Hussain Express left Karachi after a delay of 12 hours while Allama Iqbal Express from Malir Station, Karakoram and Business Express from Kent Railway Station were ready to depart.
On the other hand, departure of Shah Hussain Express and Karachi Express from Karachi to Lahore has been canceled.
Dismissed employees of Pakistan Steel Mills blocked Bin Qasim railway track during protest owing to which 14 trains coming and going from within the country have been delayed.
According to details, Employees first protested at Jinnah Gate and then staged a sit-in on the road, causing a traffic jam.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Malir and SP Malir tried to negotiate with the sacked employees of Pakistan Steel Mills but the protesters refused to end the protest.
It is pertinent to mention here that, The Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) sacked 4,544 employees, including the Divisional and Assistant Managers, PSM spokesperson confirmed on Friday.
The officials belonging to category 2,3, and 4 pay groups have been dismissed from their jobs, spokesperson added.
The spokesperson also notified that dismissal letters have been sent to sacked employees by post. (04)
