Pakistan records 1,293 covid-19 cases with six deaths in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: 07, JANUARY, 2022: Coronavirus infections tally in the country has surged 1,301,141 on Friday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,293 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 2.52 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 484,985 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 446,676, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 181,614, in Balochistan 33,655 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 109,093, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,429 while 34,689 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,961 deaths so far, after six fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,077 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,678 in Sindh, 5,941 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 366 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 967 deaths and AJK recorded 746 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 23,706,375, corona tests and 51,145 in last 24 hours and 1,258,086 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 468,467 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 429,591 in Punjab, 175,062 in KP, 33,255 in Balochistan, 107,558 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,242 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,911 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 609 patients are in critical condition.
