Pakistan records 1,165 new COVID-19 cases with 56 deaths

ISLAMABAD: 17, FEBRUARY, 2021: The number of coronavirus cases has jumped to 565,989 on Wednesday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,165 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 25,008.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 254,286 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 165,200, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 70,123, in Balochistan 18,954 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 42,921, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,943 while 9,562 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 12,436 deaths so far, after 56 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 5,114 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 4,244 in Sindh, 2,007 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 199 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 486 deaths and AJK recorded 284 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 8,531,218 corona tests and 33,196 in last 24 hours and 528,545 patients have recovered whereas 1,662 patients are in a critical condition across the country. (04)
