Pakistan registers 6,540 corona infections with 12 deaths in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: 22, JANUARY, 2022: Coronavirus infections tally in the country has surged 1,360,019 on Saturday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 6,540 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 11.10 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 520,415 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 460,335, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 183,865, in Balochistan 33,855 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 115,939, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,480 while 35,130 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,077 deaths so far, after 12 deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,100 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,730 in Sindh, 5,969 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 975 deaths and AJK recorded 749 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,474,618, corona tests and 58,902 in last 24 hours and 1,267,598 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 474,127 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 431,796 in Punjab, 175,645 in KP, 33,289 in Balochistan, 108,525 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,243 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,973 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,055 patients are in critical condition.
