Pakistan reports 4,340 coronavirus infections with seven deaths in a day

ISLAMABAD: 17, JANUARY, 2022: Coronavirus infections tally in the country has surged 1,328,487 on Monday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 4,340 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 8.71 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 502,500 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 453,392, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 182,311, in Balochistan 33,705 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 111,376, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,445 while 34,758 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,019 deaths so far, after seven deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,090 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,697 in Sindh, 5,960 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 969 deaths and AJK recorded 749 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,186,508, corona tests and 49,809 in last 24 hours and 1,263,791 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 472,125 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 430,738 in Punjab, 175,432 in KP, 33,277 in Balochistan, 108,031 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,243 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,945 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 781 patients are in critical condition.
