Pakistan sees sharp increase in COVID-19 cases

ISLAMABAD: 23, OCTOBER, 2020: The number of coronavirus infection in the country has reached 327,063 on Saturday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 847 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 143,222 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 102,467, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 38,923, in Balochistan 15,791 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 18,764, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,148, while 3,748 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 6,727 deaths so far, after 12 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Sindh recorded 2,594 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 2,334 in Punjab, 1,268 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 90 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 148 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 207 deaths and AJK recorded 86 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 4,235,329 corona tests and 31,009 in last 24 hours and 310,101 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 136356 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 97316 in Punjab, 37177 in KP, 15386 in Balochistan, 17176 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 3853 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 2837 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 586 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
