Pakistan sees significant decline in coronavirus cases with 554 infections

ISLAMABAD: 20, OCTOBER, 2021: The number of coronavirus infections has mounted to 1,266,204 on Wednesday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database 554 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 1.31 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 466,432 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 438,271, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 177,038, in Balochistan 33,138 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 106,543, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,370 while 34,412 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,312 deaths so far, after 12 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 12,868 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,534 in Sindh, 5,693 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 354 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 937 deaths and AJK recorded 740 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 20,321,823, corona tests and 42,126 in last 24 hours and 1,212,687 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 446,718 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 416,399 in Punjab, 168,411 in KP, 32,692 in Balochistan, 104,807 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,114 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,546 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,783 patients are in critical condition.
