Pakistan sees significant decline in coronavirus deaths with 16 fatalities

ISLAMABAD: 22, FEBRUARY, 2021: The number of coronavirus cases has mounted to 572,334 on Monday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,160 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 24,226.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 256,220 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 167,819, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 71,043, in Balochistan 18,988 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 43,485, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,951 while 9,828 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 12,617 deaths so far, after 16 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 5,208 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 4,292 in Sindh, 2,036 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 199 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 492 deaths and AJK recorded 288 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 8,718,555 corona tests and 32,313 in last 24 hours and 535,491 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 239,111 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 155,632 in Punjab, 66,885 in KP, 18,708 in Balochistan, 41,363 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,821 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 8,971 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,605 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
