Pakistan sees significant increase in COVID-19 infections with 3,495 cases

ISLAMABAD: 18, MARCH, 2021: The number of coronavirus infections has jumped to 615,810 on Thursday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 3,495 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 24,592.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 262,207 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 191,186, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 77,443, in Balochistan 19,269 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 49,476, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,965 while 11,264 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir(AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 13,717 deaths so far, after 61 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 5,896 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 4,469 in Sindh, 2,188 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 103 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 202 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 531 deaths and AJK recorded 328 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 9,648,242 corona tests and 44,377 in last 24 hours and 577,501 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 253,237 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 174,269 in Punjab, 71,297 in KP, 18,908 in Balochistan, 44,828 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,856 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 10,106 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 2,062 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
