Pakistani celebs demand strict punishment for prime suspect of motorway rape case

LAHORE: 15, OCTOBER, 2020: Pakistani celebrities have demanded the authorities to give strict punishment to the suspects who rapes a woman in front of her children on Lahore-motorway.
Actress Iqra Aziz took to Twitter and wrote that, "Over a month after the motorway rape, Abid Malhi, the primary accused in the case is finally under arrest."
She further said that "The law must prevail - zero mercy!"
Reacting to the arrest of prime suspect Abid Malhi, renowned actor Adnan Siddiqui stated that, "Now that the main accused of motorway rape is in police net, may we please ensure justice is time bound. As they say justice delayed is justice denied."
"Exemplary punishment to the culprits to act as a deterrent to this heinous crime," he added.
Actress Sanam Saeed has also responded to the matter and wrote that, "May this case set the tone from now on. Zero tolerance for such heinous acts. Whatever punishment is decided it must aim to be a major deterrent. May this case prove to be more effectively dealt with than cases in the past."
The reactions came days after Abid was taken into custody by security officials. CIA and CTD apprehended Abid via scientific method from Manga Mandi in joint operation on October 12, after 33 days.
On October 13, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Tuesday sent prime suspect of motorway gang rape Abid to the jail on 14-day judicial remand.
According to details, prime suspect of motorway gang rape, Abid Malhi had been produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) for physical remand today, he was taken to the court by hiding his face with a cloth.
The ATC judge expressed indignation over the incident and directed to complete identification parade process as early as possible.
On September 9, the horrific gang rape of the woman, in front of her children, occurred on Tuesday night on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway. (04)
