Hyderabad: 24 October 2021: Democracy survives on the footprints of institutional harmony, tolerance on the difference of opinion, unbiased and unrestricted media, and consensus-oriented decision making. The incidences of least inter-institutional interference ensure the smooth functioning of state affairs. Which not only ensures durable decision making but also guarantee of institutions being within their legal boundaries. Resultantly, it pushes the democratic practices to grow and get strengthened. On the other hand, the role of unbridled and unbiased media is inevitable in acting as a bridge between the government and the public for sharing the reliable information. Which makes the public to make good decisions in the coming elections. Likewise, the difference of opinion of the opposition derives democracy to further maturity. Its critical analysis helps government to polish the pro-people policies. But, On the contrary, autocracy deriving on the notions to target the opposition, restricting the media, inter-institutional clashes, and sidelining parliament affect the very basis of people's government. Running state matters through ordinances negates the vitality of mutual-discussions and it gives importance to only a single individual against the majority. In result, it negatively influence the smooth functioning of state affairs owing to least or no consensus-oriented decision making. All in all and finally, the rule of law is affected and may lead such countries to be called as failed states.
