Parts of Sindh to receive downpour from tomorrow

KARACHI: 31, AUGUST, 2021: Parts of Sindh is likely to receive showers with thunderstorm from tomorrow (September 1st).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the weather will remain partly cloudy in next 24 hours with chance of drizzle in the morning and night.

In its weather report, the Met Office said monsoon currents of moderate intensity are likely to penetrate into Sindh from Tuesday, 31st August. Under the influence of this weather system, rain along with thunderstorm with occasional gusty winds likely to hit all districts of Sindh including Tharparker, Umerkot and Sanghar districts from Tuesday night to Friday.

Karachi to receive light to medium showers during the period. Rainfall with thunderstorm expected to lash northeastern Balochistan, Punjab and other parts of the country from today.

PMD further stated that, rainfall under the monsoon currents are likely to continue till 01st September (Wednesday) in most parts of the country including Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan.

On Monday, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Sindh issued a weather alert for precautionary measures on account of heavy showers.

The PDMA in an advisory urged the authorities to remove billboards and hoardings and take other precautionary measures ahead of likely rainfall in several parts of Sindh including Karachi from August 31.

The PDMA has advised caution to concerned authorities to avoid loss of life during the rainfall. (04)
