LONDON: 18, FEBRUARY, 2021: 99-year-old Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth's husband has been admitted to a London hospital as precautionary measure after feeling unwell, Buckingham Palace said Wednesday.
According to the palace, the Philip was admitted to the private King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday evening.
"The Duke's admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness's doctor, after feeling unwell," Buckingham Palace said in a statement. "The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest," it added.
Philip, whose official title is the Duke of Edinburgh, stepped down from official engagements in August 2017 and rarely seen in public. During UK's current coronavirus lockdown, he has been staying at Windsor Castle, near London, with the queen.
The Prince Philip, 99, and Queen Elizabeth II, 94, received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in January.
Philip married the then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947 and is the longest-serving royal consort in British history. They have four children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A polo player and erstwhile naval officer, Philip enjoyed robust health well into old age but has had a number of health issues in recent years. (04)
