SC approves PSP's petition about population census in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: June, 29, 2018: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Saqib Nisar has approved an appeal of the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) against the registrar’s dismissal of its petition pertaining to the recent population census in Karachi.
According to details, the appeal was approve by the CJP on Friday, who heard it inside his chamber.
PSP Chairman and former Mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal was present on the occasion.
The CJP observed that hearing on the petition will be held after general elections as any proceedings before 25 July may impact the elections.
PSP claimed in its petition that the recent population census conducted has undercounted Karachi’s population, which in reality is over 30 million.
The census showed population as around 15 million.(03)
