SPARC launched, The State of Pakistani Children 2018 report

Hyderabad: 30 October, 2019: Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) launched annual flagship report “The State of Pakistan's Children 2018”. SPARC's this report is covered a wide range of topics associated with the rights of children.
The report provides details numbers and analytics associated with pressing issues such as child labour, children’s education and health, juvenile justice, violence against children.
Executive Cheema , further added that SPARC has been publishing this report the State of Pakistan's Children since 1997. According of the findings of report that in Pakistan almost 22.6 Million children aged 5-16 are out of school, 5 Million aged 5-9 Primary level, 6 Million aged 10-12 Middle level, 11 Million aged 13-16 Secondary level. In Punjab 9.9 Million, Sindh 6.6 Million, KPK 2.5 Million, Balochistan 1.8 Million children are out of schools. 8.2% children between the ages of 10-14 are involved in Child Labour.
This number becomes 32.6 % for children (adolescents) between the ages of 15-19 are involved in labour. 48% of Pakistani children engaged in child labour are in the 5-11-year-old age, 28% are in 12-14 years, and 25% between 15-17 years. Children are involved in harmful forms of labour. 70.9% of the total child labour force in Pakistan works in agricultural sector. 11.9% of child labour works in the industrial sector; and 17.2% works in the non-formal unorganized sector.
The child sexual abuse cases reported 3832 in all over Pakistan. Corporal Punishment is widely practiced in educational institutions in Pakistan, in at least 40% of government schools, 35% of private schools, as well as in religious schools. 30% of the marriages in Pakistan are Child Marriages, Over 1.5 million children working and living on streets of Pakistan are on constant threat of violent practices such as sexual abuse, trafficking and criminal activities.
Over 1,000 “honour killings” reported in Pakistan every year. Juvenile cases 1081 under trail cases, convicted 118 total 1199. Pakistan was placed at 150 among 189 countries in UN’s 2018 Human Development Index (HDI’s) annual rankings. Pakistan is ranked at 106 out of 119 countries. 40% of under-5 children are at serious risk. 34% of the children aged 12-23 months didn’t received all basic vaccines.
Pakistan is one of the three remaining polio epidemic countries in the world along with Afghanistan and Nigeria. 5,500 children aged 0 to 14 are living with HIV in Pakistan with 1400 newly infected. 38% of children under the age of 5, were reported to have fever. Despite of the free vaccination in Pakistan, pneumonia kills as many as 92,000 children under the age of 5 ever year.
