Seven more localities of Islamabad put under smart lockdown as virus cases rise

ISLAMABAD: 30, AUGUST, 2021: in the wake of rising number of coronavirus cases, seven areas of Islamabad have been put under smart lockdown today (Monday). 

The notification has been issued in this regard by the authorities.

As per notification, smart lockdown has been enforced on eight streets of sector G-9/3 have been closed while sectors G-7/2, I-10/2, G-9/1, E-11/4 and I-10/4. 

Essential items shops and their services are exempted from the restrictions, the notification read. 

The lockdown will be continued from August 30 till the next order.

It is to be noted that, the number of coronavirus cases has mounted to 1,156,281 on Monday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.

According to the national database 3,800 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 6.75 percent.

As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 430,594 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 391,297, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 161,381, in Balochistan 32,200 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 98,951, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 9,870 while 31,988 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In addition, the country has recorded 25,670 deaths so far, after 66 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.

As per official data, Punjab recorded 11,823 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 6,834 in Sindh, 4,944 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 173 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 338 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 863 deaths and AJK recorded 695 deaths.

According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 17,704,220, corona tests and 56,279 in last 24 hours and 1,036,921 patients have recovered whereas 5,612 patients are in critical condition across the country. (04)
