Shafqat Mehmood says right decision to close educational institutes

ISLAMABAD: 16, DECEMBER, 2020: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood on Wednesday said it was the right decision to close educational institutions given a continued rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths.
The minister took to Twitter and wrote that "Students should rest assured that the moment things get better all institutions will open."
In the wake of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, education ministers on Monday decided to close all educational institutes across the country from November 26 to January 10 as the country is facing the second wave of the epidemic that has claimed more than 9,000 lives and infected over 445,977 people in the country so far.
The important decisions regarding the educational institutions were taken in the meeting of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) which was presided over by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood on November 23.
Education Minister said "It has been decided to close all educational institutions across Pakistan from November 26 till December 24. Winter vacations will start from December 25 to January 10." (04)
