ISLAMABAD: 03, AUGUST, 2021: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Tuesday has said that the target of one million vaccinations in a day has been achieved.
The National and Command Operation Center (NCOC) head Asad Umar took to Twitter, and wrote that "Happy to report that the target we had set for 1 million vaccinations in a day was crossed yesterday with 10 lakh 72 thousand vaccinations. All federating entities contributed with punjab, sindh, kp and Islamabad all doing record numbers. Amazing performance by all involved."
The minister further said "the federal capital has become the first city in the country with a population of one million or more to get 50% of its eligible population vaccinated with at least one dose. So far, 25,208,663 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine and 879,181 in last 24 hours. 6,720,918 citizens have been inoculated second dose of the vaccine and 192,991 in last 24 hours."
The number of total administered doses has escalated to 31,929,581 with 1,072,172 in a day, he added.
It is to be noted that, the number of coronavirus cases has climbed 1,043,277 on Tuesday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database 3,582 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 7.19 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 387,261 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 358,387, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 145,306, in Balochistan 30,627 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 88,344, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 8,318 while 25,034 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 23,529 deaths so far, after 67 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 11,083 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 6,057 in Sindh, 4,477 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 147 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 328 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 804 deaths and AJK recorded 633 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 16,158,330, corona tests and 49,798 in last 24 hours and 944,375 patients have recovered whereas 3,398 patients are in critical condition across the country. (04)
