Washington: 9 November 2021: The US opened its land and air borders to fully vaccinated #international visitors from 33 countries. Visitors from Brazil, China, India, the UK, the EU, and others can now fly into the US. Restrictions were also lifted at US land borders with Canada and Mexico for fully vaccinated travelers.
The reopening comes with a new set of rules that we outline above, but there are a few exceptions. International travelers under the age of 18 are exempt from the #Covid19 vaccine requirement, given that many countries haven’t authorized the use of vaccines in children and the limited access to the global supply for kids who are otherwise eligible. Visitors from 50 countries that have vaccinated less than 10% of their populations are also exempt from the vaccine requirement — the list includes most African countries and some countries in the Middle East, like Afghanistan and Iraq. The #CDC said it will update this list every 90 days.
The changes signal a new phase in the fight against the #pandemic that comes as cases and hospitalizations from the delta variant have begun to decline nationwide. Still, the US is far from returning to normal, and public health experts urge people to remain cautious as winter draws near.
