Virtual G20 summit to be held in Saudi Arabia from today

RIYADH: 21, NOVEMBER, 2020: Saudi Arabia is hosting G20 summit which is being held in Riyadh today (Nov 21).
According to media reports, the two-day G20 Virtual Summit in Saudi Arabia is starting from today November 21, which will be attended by the leaders of the world's biggest economies virtually and this is the group's 15th annual conference which will be presided over by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The conference is very important because of the corona epidemic, which will discuss issues affecting the global economy and the focus will be on "protecting lives and restoring growth, by addressing vulnerabilities uncovered during the pandemic and by laying down the foundations for a better future."
"The G20 has contributed over $21 billion to support the production, distribution, and access to diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines." sources added.
Officials from international organizations and institutions will also attend the G20 summit. The meeting will also be attended by officials from the World Food and Agriculture Organization and the Financial Stability Council.
In addition, the G20 summit will also be attended by officials from the World Health Organization and the World Labor Organization.
The Summit will be attended by officials from the United Nations, the World Bank Group and other organizations besides the World Trade Organization.
Other than that, officials from the Arab Monetary Fund, the Islamic Development Bank, the African Union and the GCC will also participate in.
The G20 finance ministers, meeting this year, set out the first-of-its-kind strategy to mitigate the effects of the corona epidemic on the poorest countries.
The G20 countries represent two-thirds of the world's population. Their economy is about 85% of the world's economy and they own 75% of world trade. (04)
