Weekly inflation registers slight decline: PBS

According to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Saturday, it emerged that the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on January 1 recorded a decline of 0.69 pc over last week.
The inflation rate recorded up to the year's lowest figure during the last week of December 2020.
During the week under review, average prices of 15 items registered increased while rates of 10 items were decreased with the remaining 15 items' prices unchanged.
The items, which registered decrease in their prices included onions (11 pc), potatoes (9 pc), chicken (9 pc), tomatoes (4.5 pc).
On the other hand, the food items, which recorded increase in their prices including sugar, mash pulse, eggs, edible oil and flour, as per PBS weekly data. (04)
