YOUNG TARANG

news-details

Hyderabad: 1 March 2022: Pakistan cricket's embarrassment of riches continues with rookie captain Shaheen Shah Afridi inspiring Lahore Qalandars to a maiden PSL trophy. Not so long ago, the most deprived full status nation on the planet, which lurched from one country to another in a nomadic avatar, is steadily regaining old glory, but all of this has been made possible by exploits on the field by a young brigade that is now the envy of the world.
My takeaway from the seventh edition is the competition that Babar Azam, who is himself only 27, faces from within the national team, if there was a dip in form and crisis today.
Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi excelled in leading their respective franchises from the front with such compelling performances that there is now genuine leadership back-up for the national team that is both rare and inspiring at the same time. All four are established stars across all formats (save for Shadab in Tests).
Can't wait for what the future portends.
