Barrister Gohar has been re-elected as the PTI chairman

Islamaabad: 3 March 2024: Barrister Gohar Khan has been re-elected as the PTI chairman in a fresh round of intra-party polls, as announced by the party’s spokesperson and Chief Election Commissioner Raoof Hasan on Sunday.

Gohar secured victory unopposed in the chairman's election, Hasan revealed during a press conference in Islamabad.

This marks the third occasion in the past two years that the PTI has conducted intra-party elections, with the most recent occurring on Dec 2. The earlier elections led to the Supreme Court ultimately revoking the party's electoral symbol, the 'bat', following multiple rulings by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Peshawar High Court (PHC). Barrister Gohar Khan was initially elected as the PTI chairman in the Dec 2 election.

Before that, the PTI held elections in June 2022, which were annulled by the ECP on Nov 23, citing them as "highly objectionable"
