BJP Minister Apologizes for Controversial Remark on Col Sofia Qureshi

NEW DELHI: 15.05.2025: Madhya Pradesh minister and BJP leader Vijay Shah has issued an apology after facing backlash for calling Indian Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi "a sister of the same community as terrorists."
His remarks, made during a public speech referencing Operation Sindoor, were widely condemned as disrespectful and communal.
Shah later said that he respects Col Qureshi "more than his sister" and is willing to apologize multiple times if his words hurt anyone.
The Congress party demanded his removal, calling the comments an attack on military dignity and national unity. Shah was also reprimanded by BJP leadership and summoned to the party office in Bhopal.
