ISLAMABAD: 06.10.2025: The Foreign Office said on Monday that it is making "tireless efforts" to secure the safe evacuation of former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who was detained by Israeli forces while aboard a Gaza-bound aid flotilla on October 2.
Mushtaq was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, leading a five-member Pakistani delegation among over 450 international activists intercepted by Israel in international waters. The FO confirmed that he is in Israeli custody, safe, and in good health.
Efforts are underway through Pakistan’s embassy in Amman, with the FO expressing gratitude to Jordan for its “exemplary cooperation.” The authorities hoped that repatriation will be completed within a few days, pending deportation orders.
Israel has faced global criticism over the flotilla’s interception amid ongoing tensions in Gaza.
