Kashmir: 9 July 2024: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), troops intensified their search on Tuesday for gunmen who had ambushed an army convoy a day earlier, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers, according to the defence minister.

Rajnath Singh expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the soldiers in a statement on social media platform X, stating that "counter-terrorist operations are underway." Monday's attack marked a surge in incidents in the region, following gun battles on Sunday that resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and six suspected militants in Kulgam district villages.

In June, a gunman's attack on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in the southern Reasi area resulted in the deaths of nine pilgrims, marking one of the deadliest assaults in recent years and the first on Hindu pilgrims in Indian-occupied Kashmir since 2017.
