Lahore: Heavy rain inundates low-lying areas, disrupts power supply


LAHORE: 02, OCTOBER, 2021: Heavy showers along with thunderstorm lashed Lahore and its adjacent areas in the wee hours of Saturday, inundating low-lying areas and disrupting power supply.

The heavy rain was reported from parts of the city including Lakhmi Chowk, Mall Raod, Shimla Pahari, Data Darbar, Gulshan Ravi, Samanabad and several other localities. 

The downpour has flooded streets and main roads, causing difficulties for the locals in traveling. 

Rain was also reported from other parts of Punjab including Gujrat, Sangla Hill, Muredke, Nankana Sahib and Safdarabad.

Dozens of LESCO feeders tripped owing to heavy rainfall and strong wind in the city, resulting in power outage in various areas, plunging into darkness. 

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain-wind/thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) is likely to hit upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and lower Balochistan during the next 24 hours. (04)
