Mahira, fawad, Ali Abbas was the first consideration for HeeraMandi

Mumbai: 1 May 2024: With the debut of his Netflix series Heeramandi, Indian director Sanjay Leela Bhansali—known for his opulent narrative and larger-than-life sets—finally fulfilled a 20-year goal. Over the years, the series—which was first envisioned as a film—saw its fair share of casting considerations, involving Pakistani celebrities Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Imran Abbas.
YouTuber Lilly Singh was taken through the series' development by Bhansali during the Los Angeles premiere of his show, which is now being shared online. Bhansali stated, "This was 18 years ago, so at one point, it was Rekha ji, Kareena [Kapoor Khan], and Rani Mukerji." It then transformed into a different cast, then yet another one.
