Nation observing 7th anniversary of APS tragedy


PESHAWAR: 16, DECEMBER, 2021: The seventh anniversary of Army Public School Peshawar tragedy being observed today (Thursday).
As many as 147 people, including 132 schoolchildren, were martyred and a number of others were wounded when six terrorists broke into the APS on December 16, 2014 and went on a shooting spree. They indiscriminately killed and wounded young students in classrooms, corridors and the auditorium.
The callous terrorist attack on the APS that left around 150 people martyred, including 134 children and staff members lost their lives in a blatant act of terrorism in Army Public School Peshawar.
A number of activities and functions will be held across the country to remember the sacrifices of innocent children.
After this tragic incident, the government chalked out the National Action Plan (NAP) to eliminate terrorism from the country.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan in a message reiterated the nation's resolve towards national, regional and world peace. In a message, the premier said education is the only weapon with which extremism and terrorism could be defeated permanently.
On the other hand, in a message, Punjab Chief Minister said that the whole nation salutes the eternal sacrifices of the martyrs of APS.
"The martyrs of APS have united the Pakistani nation against terrorism, the brave children have laid the foundation of a safe and peaceful Pakistan with their precious blood. The little flowers sacrificed their precious lives for a great cause. The great sacrifices of the martyred children gave new impetus and determination to the nation," he added. (04)
