NCOC head says more than 20m people fully vaccinated against corona in country


ISLAMABAD: 10, SEPTEMBER, 2021: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said over 20 million people have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country.

In a tweet, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) head said "In the early days of the vaccination campaign we had set a daunting target of vaccinating 7 crore people by the end of this year." 

"Happy to report that 5 crore people have now recieved atleast 1 dose. More than 2 crore fully vaccinated. Inshallah will meet & surpass the target," he added. 

It is to be noted that, the number of coronavirus cases has mounted to 1,197,887 on Friday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.

According to the national database 3,689 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 6.03 percent.

As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 442,401 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 410,463, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 167,154 in Balochistan 32,517 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 102,094, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,127 while 33,131 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In addition, the country has recorded 26,580 deaths so far, after 83 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.

As per official data, Punjab recorded 12,135 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,073 in Sindh, 5,175 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 179 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 342 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 879 deaths and AJK recorded 714 deaths.

According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 18,347,597, corona tests and 61,128 in last 24 hours and 1,079,867 patients have recovered. 

Reportedly, 385,495 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 369,851 in Punjab, 153,619 in KP, 31,773 in Balochistan, 95,503 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,109 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 32,480 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 5,362 patients are in critical condition across the country.
