Islamabad: 22 July 2023: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that no new taxes would be imposed on the agricultural and construction industries following Pakistan's $3 billion agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last month.
Dar told the National Assembly today that he had read in "about a dozen newspapers" that new taxes would be imposed on the agriculture and construction industries due to "strict conditions" imposed by the IMF.
He went on to say, "I am making a categorical statement here that no new taxes will be imposed, neither on agriculture nor on the construction [and] real estate [sectors]."
