ISLAMABAD: 23, DECEMBER, 2021: Coronavirus cases tally in the country has jumped to 1,292,406 on Thursday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 359 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 0.77 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 479,890 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 444,380, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 181,088, in Balochistan 33,614 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 108,354, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,429 while 34,651 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,894 deaths so far, after two fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,061 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,658 in Sindh, 5,916 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 363 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 964 deaths and AJK recorded 746 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 23,000,798, corona tests and 46,564 in last 24 hours and 1,254,104 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 466,468 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 428,725 in Punjab, 174,543 in KP, 33,160 in Balochistan, 107,124 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,229 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,855 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 666 patients are in critical condition.
