Punjab govt extends attendance restrictions in Lahore, Rawalpindi schools


LAHORE: 29, JANUARY, 2022: Punjab government has extended its decision to restrict attendance to 50% in public and private eductaional institutions in provincial capital and Rawalpindi.
A notification has been issued by the concerned department in this regard.
As per the notification, classes up to Grade 6 will be staggered in all public and private schools till February 15.
It is to be noted that, coronavirus infections tally in the country has mounted 1,410,033 on Saturday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 7,963 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 11.31 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 538,196 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 474,208, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 190,578, in Balochistan 34,277 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 125,203, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,604 while 36,967 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,219 deaths so far, after 27 deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,139 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,800 in Sindh, 5,994 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 188 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 979 deaths and AJK recorded 752 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,893,290 corona tests and 70,389 in last 24 hours and 1,276,719 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 477,749 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 434,370 in Punjab, 176,352 in KP, 33,344 in Balochistan, 110,524 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,255 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 34,125 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,357 patients are in critical condition.
