Toronta: 22 Sep 2023: In a months-long investigation into the alleged Indian murder of a Sikh activist, the Canadian government has gathered both human and signals information, according to News on Friday. Unprecedented emotions erupted on Monday after Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, declared that Ottawa was "actively pursuing credible allegations" that Hardeep Singh Nijjar, 45, had been killed outside a Sikh temple in British Columbia in June.
Since then, the two nations, whose relations have been strained due to the Sikh separatist issue in recent years, have announced the tit-for-tat expulsion of top ambassadors and issued tit-for-tat travel warnings. The administration of Indian PM Narendra Modi denies any involvement in the purported murder. While urging India to assist in the inquiry into the murder, Canada said on Thursday it would not release its evidence.
