ABU DHABI: 16.05.2025: US President Trump was welcomed in the United Arab Emirates with a unique cultural performance at Qasr Al Watan, the UAE’s presidential palace, where women dancers performed the traditional Al-Ayyala dance, tossing their long dark hair from side to side.
“What a beautiful city! I love it!” Trump exclaimed as he inspected the performance. The Al-Ayyala dance, which simulates a battle scene, was accompanied by the rhythmic banging of drums and chanting men. Women in flowing white gowns gracefully flipped their hair in unison, while several men waved sword-like objects during the performance.
The UAE’s Al-Ayyala dance, often performed at weddings and festive events, involves chanted poetry, drum music, and synchronized dance movements. It’s a cultural highlight in the region and is part of the country’s rich traditions.
During his visit, Trump also noted his admiration for the UAE's welcoming atmosphere and the cultural significance of the performance. The White House reports that the president has secured over $1 trillion in economic investment commitments from the Gulf states during his trip.
