Palestine: 5 Sep 2024: The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the successful completion of the first phase of a major polio vaccination campaign in Gaza. Nearly 200,000 children in central Gaza received their initial dose as part of this effort.

Between September 1 and 3, the campaign reached over 187,000 children under the age of 10 in central Gaza, according to the WHO.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed gratitude for the commitment of families, health workers, and vaccinators who made this phase possible despite the challenging conditions in Gaza. He reiterated the call for continued respect for humanitarian pauses and urged for a ceasefire.

Pro-Palestinian Protesters Rally at Georgetown University

In Washington, DC, a group of pro-Palestinian protesters held a demonstration at Georgetown University as the new semester began. The student protesters chanted slogans such as “If we don’t get no justice, then they don’t get no peace” and “Free, free Palestine.”

Their demands included the university’s divestment from Israel and an end to Israeli attacks in Gaza. The protesters blocked a campus intersection and gathered outside Healy Hall to make their voices heard.

This demonstration follows a similar protest at Columbia University in New York City.
