KARACHI:7 April 2024: Responding to recent criticism of Karachi's "poor" law and order by MQM-P leaders, Sindh Minister for Department of Energy, Planning, and Development Nasir Hussain Shah clarified on Sunday that restoring peace is the provincial government's top priority. Earlier today, MQM-P leaders Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Senator Faisal Sabzwari criticized the Sindh government over the dismal law and order situation, stating that robbers have been given a 'license to kill' in Karachi, Pakistan's business hub.

In a statement, the Sindh minister mentioned that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had already instructed top police officials to restore law and order at any cost. He added that the police and Rangers were conducting "targeted operations" to curb street crimes in the city. "We need police officers in Sindh who can understand the situation," the minister stated.

Regarding Izharul Hassan's criticism, the PPP leader questioned, "Why did Khawaja Izharul Hassan feel so aggrieved about the appointment of a reputable IG?" Last month, Ghulam Nabi Memon, a grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, was appointed as the Inspector General of Police Sindh for the second time with the federal government's approval.
