Denial of electoral symbol, and discrimination in election is not acceptable: Bilawal

Karachi: 15 Jan 2024: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated on Monday that his party intends to take legal action regarding the ongoing practice in Punjab, where PPP candidates are being denied the use of the 'arrow' symbol.

A letter from PPP Senator Taj Haider to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) raised concerns about PPP candidates Muhammad Fayyaz Bhatti and Mujahid Islam, contesting from PP-163 (Lahore) and PP-119 (Toba Tek Singh I), not being allocated the 'arrow' symbol and being categorized as independents.

This issue arises amid the active election campaign in Punjab led by Bilawal, who has consistently expressed grievances about the perceived historical discrimination against his party in the province. Bilawal emphasized that the PPP could perform well in Punjab if provided a fair and equitable electoral environment.
