Pakistan seriously thinking on reviving trade policy with India

news-details

Islamabad: 24 March 2024: Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said they would carefully look at the trade situation with India. This comes after Pakistan stopped all trade with India in 2019 when India changed the status of Kashmir. In 2021, the Economic Coordination Committee said private companies could import sugar and cotton from India, but this decision was changed quickly because of criticism. In December, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan should improve its relationships with India, Afghanistan, Iran, and China.

Pakistan, which downgraded its diplomatic ties with New Delhi after the Indian government abrogated Article 370, has been struggling to pay back its external debts due to slower economic growth and a lack of new investments.
