Coronavirus claims two more lives in Pakistan, 708 infections recorded

ISLAMABAD: 03, JANUARY, 2022: Coronavirus infections tally in the country has climbed to 1,297,235 on Monday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 708 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 1.55 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 482,826 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 445,445, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 181,469, in Balochistan 33,644 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 108,755, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,429 while 34,667 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,943 deaths so far, after two fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,074 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,673 in Sindh, 5,933 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 364 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 967 deaths and AJK recorded 746 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 23,514,774, corona tests and 45,643 in last 24 hours and 1,257,168 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 468,080 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 429,322 in Punjab, 174,954 in KP, 33,234 in Balochistan, 107,444 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,241 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,893 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 632 patients are in critical condition.
